Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the tabble app and website, operated by Tabble Pty Ltd. By creating an account or using tabble, you agree to these Terms. This document supersedes the previous User License Agreement (TBL-TOS-001) and adds coverage for features introduced since: AI-powered recommendations, group planning and voting, direct messaging, and saved Lists.

tabble serves three account types: Users (diners), Bloggers (content-focused users with expanded posting features), and Restaurant Owners (verified business accounts). Most of these Terms apply to all account types; where a rule is specific to one type, it’s labelled clearly.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create a tabble account
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • One account per person — do not create multiple accounts to evade a suspension or manipulate reviews/votes

3. Content you post

3.1 Your ownership, our licence

You retain ownership of content you post (reviews, photos, videos, captions). By posting, you grant tabble a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting tabble — including in marketing materials, provided we don’t imply your endorsement of a product without asking first.

3.2 Review integrity

  • Reviews must reflect your own, genuine dining experience
  • Restaurant owners, staff, and their close associates may not review their own venue
  • Paid or incentivised reviews must be clearly disclosed or are not permitted
  • Organising or participating in coordinated review campaigns (positive or negative) is prohibited

3.3 Content standards

All content must comply with our Content & Community Guidelines (TBL-CCG-001), which remains in effect and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Prohibited content includes hate speech, harassment, sexually explicit material, and anything that infringes another person’s rights.

4. Restaurant claims

Restaurant Owners must provide accurate evidence of their authority to manage a listing (ABN, lease, licence, or similar). Knowingly submitting false claim evidence is a material breach of these Terms and may be reported to relevant authorities. Full terms for claimed restaurants are set out in the Restaurant Partner Agreement (TBL-RPA-001).

5. Saved Lists

  • You can create Lists (collections of saved restaurants) and set each one to Private, Shared, or Collaborative visibility
  • You are responsible for what you share via a Shared or Collaborative List link — anyone with that link can view it (Shared) or edit it (Collaborative) until you revoke access
  • Collaborators on a Collaborative List can add or remove places; the List owner can remove a collaborator at any time
  • Completed AI Finder searches and group plans can be saved into your Lists; deleting your account deletes these saved records

6. AI-powered recommendations

New since the original Terms

  • tabble’s AI Finder and Plan with Friends features generate restaurant suggestions using an algorithm based on the preferences you provide (occasion, cuisine, budget, group size, location, dietary preferences)
  • Recommendations are provided for convenience only and do not constitute a guarantee of quality, availability, or suitability — always confirm details (opening hours, dietary safety, pricing) directly with the restaurant before visiting
  • tabble is not liable for outcomes arising from a recommendation, including a restaurant being closed, fully booked, or not meeting your expectations

7. Group plans & voting

New since the original Terms

  • Only the creator of a group plan can invite participants to that plan — participants cannot add other people to a poll they did not create
  • By joining a group plan, you agree that your vote and identity are visible to other participants in that same session
  • Only the plan creator can save a completed plan to their Lists
  • tabble is not responsible for coordinating the real-world outcome of a plan (e.g. a booking or attendance) — group plans are a decision-making tool, not a booking or reservation service unless explicitly stated otherwise for a given restaurant
  • A plan creator may cancel a poll at any time before it’s completed; tabble is not liable for any inconvenience this causes participants

8. Messaging

New since the original Terms

  • Messages must comply with the same Content & Community Guidelines as public content — harassment, threats, and spam are prohibited in private messages just as in public posts
  • Do not use tabble’s messaging feature for unsolicited commercial messages
  • Report abusive messages using the in-app Report function; tabble may review reported message content solely to investigate the report
  • tabble is not responsible for the content of messages sent between users, but will act on reports consistent with our Community Guidelines

9. Subscriptions & payments (restaurant owners)

Restaurant Owner subscription plans, pricing, and billing terms are set out in full in the Restaurant Partner Agreement (TBL-RPA-001). Payments are processed by Stripe; tabble does not store your card details.

10. Prohibited conduct

In addition to content standards (Section 3) and messaging rules (Section 8), you must not:

  • Attempt to access another user’s account without authorisation
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or use automated tools to extract data from tabble
  • Interfere with the operation of the app, including attempting to manipulate the AI recommendation algorithm, review scores, or group voting results
  • Use tabble for any unlawful purpose
  • Impersonate any person or entity, including a restaurant or tabble staff member

11. Suspension & termination

tabble may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or the Restaurant Partner Agreement (if applicable), with notice and an opportunity to remedy where reasonably practicable — except in cases of serious or repeated violation, where we may act immediately.

You may delete your account at any time in Settings. This removes your public content and personal data per our Privacy Policy’s retention schedule, though some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. fraud prevention records).

12. Disclaimers

tabble is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee the accuracy of restaurant information, reviews, dietary tags, or AI recommendations. Dietary and allergen information displayed on a restaurant’s listing is self-reported by that restaurant and must always be confirmed directly with staff before ordering — tabble does not independently verify allergen safety and is not liable for a reaction resulting from reliance on this information.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, tabble’s total liability arising from these Terms is limited to the amount you paid tabble in the 12 months preceding the claim (which for most Users, being a free service, will be nil), or AUD $100, whichever is greater. tabble is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as tabble evolves. Material changes will be notified via in-app notification before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
